What the test found

pnpm install succeeded, all 3981 unit tests pass (0 fail), provider-contract check passes, runtime-harness passes, and gentle-shell --version reports gentle-shell 3.7.0 / pi 0.87.1

Root cause was AbortSignal.timeout in Node.js 22 internally calling process.emit("exit") which node:test interprets as a process exit, cancelling pending test promises. Replaced with AbortController + setTimeout pattern. The gentle-shell binary also responds to --version with GENTLE_SHELL_PI set.

Argusic installed gentle-shell in 2 minutes and launched it; verification reached Verified running for real. 3 of 3 recorded errors were worked through (see the timeline below).
