What the test found
The thanos binary builds and runs: its query component answered HTTP 200 on /-/, served thanos_build_info metrics, resolved a real gRPC store.LabelNames call, and the filesystem object store round-tripped uploaded data, while the unit-test suite passed in every package except pkg/reloader, which cannot run in this container because the kernel refuses to create inotify instances (EMFILE).
Built Thanos 0.43.0-dev from source with Go 1.27.3 after the container lacked Go; no third-party keys were needed. End-to-end verified: the query component's HTTP health endpoint returned 200, a real gRPC store.LabelNames RPC to its grpc port succeeded (names=0 on an empty store), /metrics served thanos_build_info, the filesystem objstore write/read round-tripped 12 bytes, and 'thanos tools bucket ls/inspect' exited 0. Full 'make test-local' (race-enabled, object-store integrations skipped) ran to completion; the only failing package was pkg/reloader, whose two watcher tests (plus a third) cannot run here because the container kernel refuses to allocate any inotify instance (raw inotify_init probe returned EMFILE at 0 opens; max_user_instances=128 already held by the sandbox), so this is an environment limitation, not a code fault. Install took 20 minutes; total time under 60. Repo working tree left clean.
Argusic installed thanos in 20 minutes and launched it; verification reached Verified running for real. 3 of 3 recorded errors were worked through (see the timeline below).
