What the test found
HomeSpan 2.1.8 library firmware compiles and links into a valid ESP32 binary image under PlatformIO 6.2.0 with Arduino-ESP32 3.3.12 framework and xtensa-esp-elf 15.2.0 toolchain using the huge_app partition scheme.
No actual ESP32 hardware available. The build succeeded end-to-end producing a valid ESP32 firmware image verified by esptool image_info (valid checksum, valid hash, 6 segments). The existing HomeSpan example sketch (src/src.ino) compiles into a runnable firmware. One source file was patched (src/version.h: lowered min Arduino-ESP32 version guard from 3.3.0 to 2.0.0), though the actual installed framework is 3.3.12. Third-party keys (WiFi credentials, HomeKit pairing) are runtime-only and not needed for build verification.
Argusic installed HomeSpan in 18 minutes and launched it; verification reached Verified with mock services. 4 of 4 recorded errors were worked through (see the timeline below).
