What the test found

A fresh copy of the smart_thermostat custom component loads under Home Assistant 2025.1.4 in this container: the climate entity switched its heater on/off as the mocked temperature crossed the target (100.0/heating vs 0.0/idle), all four documented custom services answered 200, and the process ran error-free and shut down cleanly.

Verified end to end with real Home Assistant 2025.1.4 (pip wheel in a Python 3.12.3 venv) and the real smart_thermostat integration over its REST API; only the physical heater was a local template-switch mock. Also observed and recorded that pid_controller.PID.calc() returns raw p+i+d which can exceed the configured output bounds (the climate entity clamps it), and HA emits a Python 3.12 deprecation warning only.

Argusic installed HASmartThermostat in 5 minutes and launched it; verification reached Verified running for real. 4 of 4 recorded errors were worked through (see the timeline below).
